I enjoyed a great privilege to be able to spend time in and photograph this stunning architecturally-renovated heritage home situated in Westcliff, Johannesburg! The owners completely refurbished this iconic historic house, transforming it into a unique, impressive family residence and a work of art at the same time. The timeless elegance of the heritage architecture is combined with an ultra modern open plan interior with indoor-outdoor flow for contemporary living and grand-scale entertaining.
My brief for this photoshoot was to photograph the expansive living areas only, leaving the stunning bedroom areas and park-like landscaped gardens for another shoot in the near future. I cannot wait to come back!
The owners asked me to style the open plan living areas for the shoot, but, as soon as I entered this exquisite, unique space, I knew that I wanted to let the uncluttered interior, the high-end finishes, the natural light pouring in from every angle and the scale of the design speak for themselves. The elegant original arched windows and the new modern panoramic metal windows bring the landscaped garden with it's giant trees into the home and I felt that the only additional styling needed were fresh flowers from the garden. Of course I was in my element wandering around the lush flower beds and rose gardens with my garden shears and arranging the cut flowers in simple arrangements which would perfectly compliment the uncluttered, sleek and extensive interior.
